Frequency reuse in cellular system, (Mobile communication)|What is frequency reuse in cellular system?|definition of frequency reuse.

The design process of selecting and allocating channel groups for all cellular base station within a system is called as frequency reuse or frequency planning.

- Cellular radio system relay on intelligent allocation and reuse of channel throughout coverage region.

- Each cellular bese station is located a group of radio channels to be used with small geographic area called a cell.

- Base station in adjacent cells are assigned channel group which contain completely different channels than neighbouring cells. And same group of channels are may be used to cover different cells that are separated from each other by distance large enough to keep interface level within the limits.

- the total number of available channels can be S=KN

     Where,

K- each cell is allocated set of channels

S- the total number of available

            channels

N- cell in unique and this joint group                  have same number of channels.

- if cluster is replicated M times then capacity C=MKN=MS

- frequency reuse factor= 1/ cluster (N)

the CO channel reuse factor Q is defined as Q=D/R=√3N

      Where,

           D- minimum safe distance after

                which group of frequencies

                Can be repeated

          R- cell radius.

- does a small value of Q larger capacity as cluster size N is small where as larger value of Q improve transmission quality. To improve capacity N is usually 4,7 or 12.
